Cold War Kids

Hang me up to dry...

...you wrung me out too too too many times!

So im about to take a plane, and airport internet does it again... I think i kinda like the connection flight waiting thing, you sit down, take out your book and pretend you can read with your headphones on, but you only listen to the excellent music you have selected for this trip, look around, your companion speaks on the phone, im not listening to the conversation though, then you open your water bottle and after a refreshing sip you see people walking next to you, sit next to you, look at you, you kinda freak out, then you bring out your computer as an answer, you only want to have something else to put your eyes on, but the answer is not on the screen...

Him - Que estas escuchando?

Me - (no answer, slowly dancing on my seat)

Him - Tienes hambre?

Me - (no answer, keep on dancing, smile a little)

Him - Hmm... Que es?

Me - (no answer, stand up walk away with the look over the shoulder maneuver)

Him - Ok, me voy a tomar una cerveza ahi... te llevo tus cosas, no te pierdas.

Me - (no answer, keep on walking away on rhythm)

Hang Me Up To Dry - Cold War Kids live on Jools Holland

The Cold War Kids are all about attitude, i just discovered them and i cant stop listening to them.

Depeche Mode

Im about to go out, im on stand by just waiting for the sign. I look up the window and i see the night and the lights are bright and i want to dance, i want to enjoy a nice drink and slow, slowly dance to this song.

But Not Tonight - Depeche Mode

My favorite from them.

The Streets

Who likes Rap? Well i kinda like it at parties sometimes, and even though im not fond of their lyrics at all, this one makes scense to me (yeah i used to be an intense party drug user). I think this guy is probably the only rapper out there, that wins my respect. Bro!

Blinded By The Lights - The Streets live at Rosklide

...next morning, you feel like something, yeah something its gonna come and kill you there right where you are, nothing can stop it, youre helpless, next thing you know is that youre fine but you have to go, and in the car you are gonna crash anytime, or that car behind you is following, then its getting dark and the lights are stronger, it makes you lose breath, then you get there and you think a drink could help, you know... get over it. And it does, but still you feel youre falling into emptyness and you cant think about anything else, but not doing it again.

Not Even Jail

What an awesome band, one of the most important bands of the decade. They are probably a little poor live, but in this video they do a perfect execution of one of my favorite tracks. Interpol was pretty much a low profile band when they first came out, nobody would know much about them or even know about their first single, but they started to grow, little by little, and they filled in pretty well. A constant band in my pod, and i love them because they have this dark but still elegant and decadent style, that brings my feelings out.

Ive heard many stories about Paul Banks, and the best are from when he was here in Mexico at el ASF... he was a greasy loser, and i think he didnt enjoy much of it, but look at him now, i bet all that was part of his inspiration.

I hope you enjoy it as much as i did.

My Bloody Valentine

This song is awesome, and the movie is too. It actually reminds me of my visit to Tokyo, actually i had to handle myself alone sometimes there, and it was easy, Japan is safe and friendly. I used to walk a lot and listen to my Ipod, i didnt play this song there, but that acoustic guitar then that electrified background combo could have made a good soundtrack, like it is for this movie.

Lost in translation, I actually watched it after my trip, and i liked it a lot, but i didnt like how they pictured Japan. Tokyo is a big and densely populated city, but its clean and quiet which was really amazing, its really safe and everything its in the right place. The people was always nice and it was so much fun, so many things to go see and do, i loved it.

Muse (... and newcomers for the best record of the year 2009!)

I dont know why i forget about some bands sometimes, Muse came out with the Absolution album and even though i didnt know about them before that, i remember it was like a whole month listening to it. Great album, their best work.

Muse play great live shows, they even won best performance band of the year a couple of times and ive seen their concerts so i can tell you they deserve it. I saw them in Paris right in the middle of their absolution tour, it was awesome.

This one was something like my favorite track of that album and right now i brought it back because i was discussing the best record of the year 2009 poll, and i realized i had forgot three great albums that came out this year, and i even have a post on two of them. And the new comer nominees for the best record of the year 2009s poll are:

On the #1 and personal favorite:

From british sensation Kasabian - West Ryder Pauper Lunatic Asylum

On the #2:

From british darkpunk rockers The Horrors - Primary Colors (the album that made me like them, i hate their first work)

On the #3:

Muses - Resistance

Please guys vote, and i dont have anything to do with the election of the winner decision, this is a completely clear and transparent election poll and i hope you guys vote so you can help me decide what was the best album of this year!

Endlessly - Muse live at Wembley 2003

Dont forget to vote on the right part of this window.

Kings of Convenience

What an excellent video, dont you just want to go to the beach? even so just drive around on a nice day with this song playing background?

The Kings of Convenience are pretty new to me and i love them, these two nerdy folk kids really blew my mind when i first met their 3rd record, which in fact is nominated for best album of 2009 (dont forget to vote!). And actually its a hard one for me, i love Patricks work but these ones have something, very... intellectual or eloquent or satisfactory.

I think its an awesome song this one, im listening to it on the terrace, we have a nice day out here and i enjoy writing for you, my few readers.

Take care.

Chrono Cross Cosplay: Kid! (and the awesome theme song)

Just another thought came to me when over a conversation with my friend Cavallazzi (you probably know him from Hitlercito, Perro Gato and Ardilla or any of his different web comics, check him out!) and music led us to cosplay and video games, and since im a videogamer and i love the music they use for the video games, i decided im gonna do a cosplay of Kid! So yeah for next halloween im gonna be dressing around some party like this eloquent time traveling pirate girl.

Doing Cosplay means that you dress like some video game character (i didnt know what it was), i think its a great idea for fans to get our halloween ideas.

What an excellent character, Kid is perfect for cosplay, its gonna be cool yet geeky enough, her clothes are easy to make (im gonna suffer from hypothermia! haha) but i have a year to find the things, and i can imitate her pirate accent (if you played the game you know what im talking about), i can totally pull it off without falling into those cosplay tries that go terribly wrong.

Ok, now the most important part of this post: The music! Listen to this song fellas, i think its an awesome fantastic mind blowing adventurous time traveling song.

Chrono Cross intro

Im gonna have to grow my hair a bunch of months before to be able to make that crazy pony tail and its gonna look awesome.

KOL too!

Yes!

The Kings also released a live DVD, like the same day BRMC did, its fantastic, i cant wait to get my hands on both. They filmed it at the live O2 arena in London, and judging on the next video you can see its gonna be awesome. Its perfect, i base my love on these bands firstly on their music, but it has a lot to do with the fact that both play wonderfuly live, ive been there with both bands, and both were of the most beautiful moments of my musical life.

By the way... weve got to start voting pals, whats the best record of this year 2009? What you say?

Mylene Farmer

I found an LP of this woman and i played it in the studio, it took me by surprise and i liked it, now i listen to her music a lot these days. Shes this 80s pop french singer that decided to make short films instead of MTV boring same old videos, she comes up with this weird mixure of dark sensuality and libertinage, and strange soft feminine wave sounds in her music that at the same time makes up a celebration of life. It takes me back to the 80s in some way, but to this teatre of libertinism and seduction, wild but classy and at the same time mysterious humor, is all mixed up and it makes me find life quite amusing!

The good old french libertine tradition.

I like France, i kinda miss it.

Libertine - Mylene Farmer

Maybe next Halloween.

Au revoir!

Julian Casablancas

Our dear friend Julian, oh how cool is this guy huh? He saved rocknroll back then at the start of the decade and now hes trying to make a revolution, bring back old classic styles and mix them up with this postmodern 80s new wave futuristic indie rock pop and make a happy party for everyone. Sometimes i imagine him next to Sinatra or Bennet, you know, a suit and that 70s stage over a TV show singing to an orchestra. Sometimes i feel hes just trying to make us see the things the way he sees them, he brings to the table his style and i can catch up his drift very well i must say.

Well Julian, congrats! and... you can come back to Mexico anytime, i bet the crowds would be nice to you, plus remember that you like our weed!

I know Black Rebel Motorcycle Club is and will always be my favorite band. When i saw this video it made me shiver and im all excited and that made my day. These guys just sound exactly perfect for me. Its just like i dont know i feel this music was made for me, it fits my likes just perfectly, i dont know why, its something you cant explain.

And theyre coming out with a new live DVD/CD around november 10th!

Ecstasy.

One of the best concerts of my life, i gave in and just enjoyed it, it was bliss, i didnt even think about it, neither tried to analyze it, it was pure adrenaline, pure enjoyment of life.

The Prodigy

I remember some older friends, mostly my sisters, were pretty much into Prodigy, i remember i had to look over the window from my room to the garden to see how crazy they could get, i have this very neat memory of a day party my sister hosted and how my dad kicked them all out at night when found at arriving home. I also remember one of my old friends trying acid at a 4/20 celebration at Seans, he had already gone for a huge try with the gravity bong, then he left to get his candies, he came back sat down over the grass and started to move his hand like a maniac, he was tripping over Prodigy songs, this was back in 2000 i think, that ended up bad later that night, he was fine but i, arriving home had to come up with a story my parents didnt believe and i ended up not seeing sun light for a few weeks.

Being honest i had different likes, Prodigy was a great band for going crazy, i relate it a lot with drugs actually, i did dance to them back then, but i never had to play that Fat of The Land record my sister and later Emjay would cherish so much. But i like this song, listen to the swords! And i bet the concert was fun, but this level of intensity is not for me now.

Look how crazy these guys are, psycho! Anyway, i think this was their best moment, maybe later but not now. But tell me... Did you go to the concert yesterday? How was it?

Mad World

Depression, bed, curtains, light, wind, water. All done wrong or better said, not done, i was feeling like but still not hard enough to try, i was penetrated by a deeper feeling of apathy, but not yet that one. Sad, i wake up and find out its not over yet, still have the chance to wake up and find that all around me are familiar places, things i know, stuff i can do. I could fix it, its never too late right? But still, its hard.

Mad World - Gary Jules live covering Tears for Fears

The Gallagher Brothers

This is a pretty song, simple, catchy, romantic. Im actually trying to learn it, its quite hard that sing/play thing, even though the song consist of like 2 chords only.

So since Oasis disbanded a few weeks ago, everybody speculates on their future, I say they will get back together someday not so far from today, some say Noel Gallagher is and has always been the brains of the band so his future as musician will not be compromised, others say Liam is done in the music scene... Well i think Liam has something to show to us too... This is the proof.

Portishead

If i was choosing songs for some noir mafia NYC film, i would go for this track, yeah it will make part and would be my guideline song for the soundtrack.

This band is very atmospheric, its sensual but still cold enough to make you want to put it into some cold blood espionage movie.

What a perfect performance, you can see what kind of talent we talk about here, this is not just a lucky band with a new wave sound, this is pure expression, its art.

All Mine - Portishead live at NYC

Morrissey

He was the singer of the Manchester legendary band... The Smiths. But now and it has been a while since hes on his own, still singing the same songs and making the same music, Morrissey will never lose his touch.

I love this song, the riff is very danceable and well i remember myself dancing to it like if i was doing some ballroom steps and spinning around like a ballerina, but... poor Hector. Who was the first of your gang to die?

I pay tribute to an angel who did like the Smiths a lot and was very pretty, with an out of the box kind of mind, she was an outcast no posing needed, a passionate girl with a great future on design and poetry, but took her life too young.

Camila, you will never be forgotten.

The XX

These guys look like they just came out from the Delorean. In reality they just look like freaks now hahaha. Well i think their sound is sexy, soft, but at the same time dark like and 90s/80s, still being kinda new, kinda hip, i dont know i like the song, its catchy. I put their record (highly recommended, its named 2.0) in the van during a long slow drive, traffic & rain, me, the track, a latte, long cell phone call, i actually enjoyed it a lot. Dance to it on the road, on the way to a party or reunion or something.

Tito & Tarantula

Since i believe im losing popularity ill give you guys... Salma Hayek!

Yeah boys, Tito & Tarantula is this great band that puts this warm rhythm to Salmas body. Shes so sexy and look at those moves, i mean i think im a good dancer and i can be seductive but, shes way out of my league, i think those moves could even seduce me! hahaha So i like the song, the movie was... ok, and personally... i think Salma is a good woman.

Joe Cocker

The wonder years song? yeah! wow this song is so awesome, i woke up today with this vintage attitude and i decided im gonna smoke a bit later with a little help from my friends, i plan to stay the whole day at home just hanging out, listening to good songs and relaxing. What a lovely hanging out day its gonna be! But remember.. if youre gonna hang out, you might need a little help from your friends.

Ah its a great song, that guitar riff and the choir, its glorious!

A couple of days ago i was online late as usual, and i was having a nice conv about living back in the 60s, i mean who wouldnt think about this? Well i found out that probably i would have liked it a lot! What you say was the best decade for music?

I love this song, it reminds me of great times, me and my best friends used to play the song and sing it all together, laa lala lalala laa lalala laa yeheyeah! hahaha What a lovely tune.

Malaguena Salerosa (Post #100!)

Arriving home, im tired after a really nice evening, i take off my shoes, take a look at my face, still looking good and my dress was intact, so i go drink a glass of water when i hear my cel phones message alert, it reads: Sal a la terraza. Surprised i hear my roomie calling me, Pandy! Pandy! Ven rapido!

Laura Marling

I woke up at night because i felt a small hit and i realized he was having a nightmare and he was moving his hands around, i started to caress him and pass my fingers through his hair, and i tried to make him come back at least with me by his side fighting against those black forces. When he woke up he didnt remember what he was dreaming but he said he suddenly felt like everything was ok.

Milk

So im back guys, my few readers which i probably lost already. Well yeah i got myself a ticket to the Kings concert, im exited actually. And well here you go this is one of my favorite Kings of Leon songs, i actually have a story on this song... I fell asleep listening to my Kings of Leon playlist and i wake up at around 6 am, sunrise you know? well... the song is playing in the background (try to picture it), i realize a little sun ray coming in under the curtain and i go to open it to let his brothers in, and oh surprise, i find my roomy in the terrace, watching the morning sun... we woke up at the same time by coincidence, but she said that when she heard the song in my room, she wanted to wake me up, but she didnt. I guess somebody did. Thank you Followill brothers.

And i dont have a ticket for the Kings of Leon next October 22nd concert at el Palacio de los Deportes venue. Im fucking stressed and sad and mad and it sucks, i dont have a fucking ticket because guess what? I didnt know they were coming, so i find out today that its sold out and me, one of the greatest Kings of Leons fan, yeah, im empty handed.

Im depressed and i need to find myself a ticket, i need to, i, need, to.

I cant bare the chance of not going to this concert. Because its rough for me now, and this is a dagger in my stomach, but im gonna try hard to find myself a ticket, this is not over yet!

Standing Next To Me

And this boys took everybody by surprise with this Last Shadows Puppets thing, they even said, and i quote from the mouth of this kid Alex Turner, "Being in the Puppets, its like being in the Beatles" I dont really know what he meant by that, but we can see a little ego there.

They indeed sound vintage, and they sound good, they didnt come up with that indy song we all know already, they brought us the chance to believe in youth again, in new music and in new waves that transform with the time, they morph from what it was when it started and they form new sounds that make us feel its familiar, but then again is not. Now i leave you with the Puppets, and their new vintage.

Joaquin Cortes

The energy around the venue was strong, it was atmospheric. He was improvising indeed, as a gypsy should, traveling around and making the end fitting with the start, impressing, and then leaving, yeah leaving behind a need, an energy.

It was a great show, inspiring, it was Tuxtla Gutierrezs Polyforum, it was raining after the show, it was very warm and humid, and it let me a very sensual feeling, i needed to dance (i dont dance flamenco) but i needed to, and i took to bed my craving.

Michael Jackson

Rest In Peace

The boy who never gets old, the best dancer of our generation, the black turned to white, the man turned to boy, the legendary singer, the King of Pop.

Michael Jackson didnt really represent much to me when i was just a little girl, but i will always remember great moments involving him. I was very young indeed but i could later define it was euphoric the moment i shared with all those kid voices singing at once "we are the world, we are the children" it was the love.

He died yesterday, and he left the world soon i believe, he was getting ready for his come back, its a shame life didnt give him enough time to come back as the king he was.

Nobody could fill your throne Michael!

Heres a video i love, where not only Michael, but some of the greatest voices of the US gathered for Africa, this was indeed a magical moment. Such a pretty song.

Mirrors Image

These guys.. im still impressed on how they improved their sound, i must say that they played el Salon 21 not long ago and showed us it was hard to sound like they should, and it was harder to sound even decent in a place like that.

But check this out, this is their come back now, they show us they can sound like they should if well booked, well recorded and well managed. I love this track, being honest Primary Colors, the second record the Horrors penned down not long ago, has been part of my soundtrack of this year. Enjoy!

Jeff Buckley

Theres the moon asking to stay
Long enough for the clouds to fly me away
Well its my time coming, im not afraid to die
My fading voice sings of love,
But she cries to the clicking of time
Oh, time

Wait in the fire...

And she weeps on my arm
Walking to the bright lights in sorrow
Oh drink a bit of wine we both might go tomorrow
Oh my love

And the rain is falling and i believe
My time has come
It reminds me of the pain
I might leave
Leave behind

Wait in the fire...

And i feel them drown my name
So easy to know and forget with this kiss
Im not afraid to go but it goes so slow

I dont think i need to say much about him, he was an inspiration and role model to many 90s musicians, including Radioheads lead man Thom Yorke. This is just pretty, what a nice melody, powerful but soft, sentimental and honest.

Cowboy Junkies

Her voice is sweet and it shows indeed a lot of sentiment, shes a beautiful woman, though i read around the web that she was really shy at first, she would only sing to one of her brothers, write the songs and then, when she felt ready, she would share her heart with other listeners.

I love the feelings i hear when i play them, i heard they recorded their first album inside a chapel, one microphone, which it ended up being good because i think it gives a great atmosphere and probably the ambiance helped them to open their hearts and share their feelings with us through the music.

The lyrics are pretty, she speaks of this out of control unconditional love that compares to blindness, to nothing rational at all, just that intense feeling that grows deeper and it rises up and spreads through our bodies, embracing our hearts, the human most passionate love.

Shes really beautiful dont you think? even with all that 80s hair, i wonder how i would look on that style.

Misguided Angel - The Cowboy Junkies live in Japan

Final Fantasy

Sometimes you just need to go away, you need to feed yourself on something else but this cruel gray raw real world. Sometimes you need adventure, need to go to the greenest woods, with the most mystic nature and its lights, magic dust and fantastic creatures, you need to travel to space and dance the most soft and sentimental ballad to the stars, you need love, romance, will, cause, you need something to fight for.

So this is not another attempt trying to be geeky, ive been playing videogames my whole life, and well i know that in some points of my life i dont follow the community, im pretty much an outcast, but i know theres people there, like me, that wish to be moved, and RPGs have done that and more, they entertain us, they tell us stories, they give you challenge, achievement, they make good company and sometimes if you really get into it, you learn a lot of things about life.

So this is what ive been doing the past few days, playing my old RPGs, but now its coming, yeah, the new FF will be in my hands soon, thats why im saving money, thats why im exited about it. I just love the music they make for these games. Check this out.

Rest My Chemistry

I havent slept for two days
Ive bathed in nothing but sweat
And Ive made hallways scenes for things to regret
My friends they come
And the lines they go by
Tonight Im gonna rest my chemistry

I live my life in cocaine
Just a rage and three kinds of yes
And Ive made stairways
Such scenes for things that I regret
Oh those days in the sun
They bring a tear to my eyes
Tonight Im gonna rest my chemistry

But youre so young
Youre so young
You look in my eyes
Youre so young, so sweet, so suprised
You look so young
Like a daisy in my lazy eyes

So tonight Im gonna rest my chemistry
Tonight Im gonna rest my chemistry

Rest My Chemistry - Interpol live at Hovefestivalen

Music When The Lights Go Out

Is it cruel or kind not to speak my mind
And to lie to you rather than hurt you?
Well Ill confess all of of my sins
after several large gins
but still Ill hide from you
hide whats inside from you

And the alarm bells ring
When you say your heart still sings
When you're with me
Oh Won't you please forgive me

But I no longer hear the music
Oh no no no no no

And all the memories of the pubs
And the clubs and the drugs and the tubs
We shared together
Will stay with me forever

But all the highs and the lows
And the tos and the fros
They left me dizzy
Oh wont you please forgive me
I no longer hear the music
Oh no no no no

I no longer hear the music when the lights go out
Love goes cold in the shades of doubt
The strange fate in my mind is all too clear
Music when the lights come on
The girl I thought I knew is gone
And with her my heart it disappeared...

Oh i no longer hear the music

Mr Pete Doherty and Mr Carl Barat wrote this song, a lovely tune indeed, a classic. It has been dedicated to me a few times, played with sentiment, and it has made me cry.

The Horrors live at el Salon 21

I dont know if it was them or the place that has this really horrible sound, i mean they had to stop the concert like 3 times to try to fix it! They couldnt, they lost me, i left after they played Sea Within A Sea.

So yeah, i arrived late, drunk and high again! hahaha i was at this Fishers place, and like i got drunk on these Perla Negra things (i hate them now), haha it was like pedimos el carrito? and im like whats el carrito? and then they come with this carrito full of these Perla Negra drinks, 40 of them. So in the way to the venue i decided i really had the need to smoke a little (when you get in its harder to smoke) so im high and drunk and i wanted to drink more. The concert started and i was already drunk enough to dance no matter what, but the sound was terrible enough to make it impossible for me to forget about it and keep on dancing, i was angry. I left before it was over but i dont think i missed much, but yeah they had a good attitude, the singer connects the dots and plays his roll very well, but that wasnt enough, i spent most of the time just drinking and chatting.

I have two theories: One, the sound equipment of the place must be old and the owners dont give a fuck about it and fuck fans up and bands too, who wants to play there and sound horrible!? Two, they didnt buy the right equipment for that venue. I dont know but i had fun and it was not thanks to the band, i didnt really cared they were on stage after like two or three songs.

They kind of have the same attitude live too.

Bat For Lashes

Mystisicity, occultism, magic, fairies, fur and gold.

Natasha Khan, the girl singer and leader of this band of very talented feminine magicians. Bat For Lashes can be a band for windy nights, i like to listen to them when im outside and i can feel the air running trough my body, feel how it shapes the moment, and give tune to the wind with the nice voice that appears like casting spells to make the stars form the night.

Trophy - Bat For Lashes London live.

I like fur and gold.

Marilyn Manson

He was a huge hit in the head for parents back then in the 90s, when kids wanted to buy this weird album of this Antichrist guy dressing black latex and wearing lots of make up. For the kids it was just some nonsense rebellion against nothing, but it looked fun. And for me was nothing really, i didnt care about him until he came up with this Eat Me Drink Me album. My roomy being slightly a fan of Manson, bought tickets to one of his concerts here at el Salon 21 (its funny how people here scream even though they dont understand what the artists say), we thought it could make us both have fun and forget about life so we could become Dark and Wild for that night... and well we really did it, we did all this very professional Gothic makeup and dressed fit for the night, i was unrecognizable! I think this Gothic scene style gets really sexy, if you dont go too far, you could end up looking really good.

So he came back with this pornographic video featuring this girl from Across The Universe (how different she could be huh?), so shes going out with Marylin and shes something like 18-19 and hes like what? 40? go girl! hahaha i like the song.

The Cure

Yesterdays night i had this weird video-like experience. Never happened to you that you put your iPod on and then inside your head you have the music of the video you are just witnessing with your eyes? Yesterday i was arriving home late and after having a couple martinis i didnt feel like going up to bed, so... i decided to walk around. Lucky i had my iPod with me. So i take off my heels and hide my purse around the gym and i start to travel around the building like a zombie. Inside my head i could see this weird artsy video of a girl just walking around places, i was looking down and i could see my legs and the different styles of the floor depending on the area (i didnt know floors have very interesting and nice textures before! haha marble!). I started to walk on rhythm unconsciously, making me go faster. So im into it, im walking around fast, going upstairs, different areas, the pool, the gym, the saloons, and then i feel somebodys looking at me, i look up to my side and i find the eyes of the guard from the entrance looking at me hahaha and i stop, take off my headphones and say:

Pandy: Buenas noches...

Guard: Buenas señorita, se va a enfermar...

Pandy: Si, solo estaba... caminando un poco.

Guard: Esta bien, no se le vayan a olvidar sus cosas.

Pandy: No.. gracias.

It was such an awkward moment, i picked up my things and went up home.

So the song that started everything was indeed... A Forest, my most favorite The Cures song. I love that dark feeling they created with the effects and futuristic keyboards. I think this was their best era, and well look at Robert Smith, he was a dark romantic.

A Forest - The Cure live in Japan

Dont you think Robert Smiths old enough to stop wearing all that make up?

HIM

Or His Infernal Majesty.

HIM is a band that some could put on them the label "guilty pleasure" because nowadays it gives the impression of being one of those emo bands. Being honest i had to listen to them secretly because my friends back then would bother me. But now i dont care, nobody should hide something they like, i encourage people to admit all their guilty pleasures, not just scream them to the world, but claim them good, and support them, because these guilty pleasures are indeed good! This band makes good music, all the band members play wonderfully and Ville Valo is sexy.

Look at the response of the crowd before them, they have this great vibe and all of them dance and jump, it must feel like a great energy in front of you when the audiences go crazy.

Ville Valo is like this weird bohemian/romantic/goth lover with a great voice, he usually talks about love in his lyrics, but in a very depressing way that sometimes could make you relate and feel identified.

I love the piano line on this track.

The Horrors

And they came out with the best album of this year so far.

Being honest, i didnt like them at all, it was fun to have this crazy band dressing like Halloween and going crazy, but their music was crap, it was horrible as their name suggested. So they became a little famous on that one, i dont know why? i dont even know who took the decision/had the idea to put on sale such horrible record.

But this time they came back and they sound like they know how to make music. I was indeed impressed, ive got the album just a couple of days and i cant stop listening to it. They decided to morph into this combination of My Bloody Valentine, Johnny Thunders/The Ramones, Pink Floyd and... Portishead, yeah they had to sound a little like them, after all i heard a guy from Portisheads line up produced the album, it is called Primary Colors, well he did a great job on this one.

I cant post a live version because i dont think theres a video with proper quality right now, but we have the nice music video they made for this 8 minute song. Its brilliant!

Sea Within A Sea - The Horrors

So they play at el Salon 21 in about 2 weeks, and im definitely going even though ill have to listen to the horrible songs from the first album, the new ones are worth seeing live.

Children Of The Revolution!

So.. im back from my flu quarantine! and im healthy! yay!

Anyway so.. this is a follow up vid to the one my blogger friend Jossy showed me of this song, its not the best version i know, but it reminds me of a really good time i had back then in 05, 06? Well you remember the live 8 right?

Elont John played the London stage for the live 8 benefit concert, he played indeed this song and he called Pete Doherty on stage to sing it with him, it was kinda controversial because he looks like he was on heroin or something and he didnt really sing the song, he was much like shouting, and even if people say he did fuck up, which he probably did, i think it was cool, like he has always been this outlaw punk rock kid, what else did you expect? haha

I went to this day party, it was a live 8 party indeed, a great garden that was used for a party a night before, it had this dinner tables with flowers and all that but it was all dirty with food and you know what happens in parties, so it was weird, i remember that there was this computer and everybody had to sign their names to the live 8 website for helping the cause, and they had parts of the concert put to us real time, so thats when i saw this video.

The Presets

It was at this new antro venue called Zoon, i have this vague memory of this 90s nightclub called Medusas placed around that Plaza Inn area, so this place could in fact be where Medusas was. And everybodys all crazed up by the gripe porcina thing, you get to the venue they put alcohol in your hands to wash off any viruses you might carry and they also give you the so called tapa bocas azul we see everywhere around the city these days, and you are ready to get in.

It was a small concert, fit for the band, fit for the crowd. Excellent sound, and I indeed had a great fun, i think i didnt dance like that since... its probably one of the nights i danced the most in my whole life haha! I even went out completely wet on sweat and wrapped on my jacket trying to avoid the cold wind from the typical door to car episode, i take off my top in the car and it was wet as if i had fallen into a swimming pool.

So yeah, perfect night, easy access to the venue even with a baby girl with no ID! We as usual arrived there late, intentionally just before the concert started, which i highly recommend to avoid crowds, that way you get there, dance and youre done and out faster. Their set list was great before the encore, they played a tight set including their most acclaimed tracks and then walked off stage, but came back to do an improvised encore that should have been skipped, its better to walk off in glory than to play longer and walk off tediously. So i did skip the encore (again to avoid crowds) and i didnt see the end of the concert but i dont think i missed much.

This Boys In Love - The Presets live at Melbourne

The sound was very close to the one here in this vid.

Watch out for la gripe del puerquito!

Garbage

Another kick ass 90s band. Garbage sounds really fucking good live, some people say its impossible to sound like them live, just a band with producers on board could be apt for this kind of tracks played with the same equality during stage shows. They are totally one of my most heard bands during the late 90s/early 00s, and of course tracks like: Push It, Special, Only Happy When It Rains, #1 Crush, are on my playlists and iPod very often.

This lady Shirley Manson definitely rocks, shes a role model and obviously a fashion creep (she comes up with very good ideas from time to time). I love her voice as one of my favorite female singers, she has worked with She Wants Revenge and i think shes in the new post apocalyptic TV Show of Terminator.

This tracks perfect.

Happy 4/20

How did you guys celebrate 4/20?

I decided to get high at work! hahaha

First i freaked out but everything went to a very well outcome. I think ill probably get a raise or something haha! i was highly creative and even though if i was a little distracted and sometimes i did forget a few pointers, i did perfect team work! But dont get me wrong, i do not recommend you to do it for all kinds of working activity.

Well Ill give you my special 4/20 present! Ta-Tan!

Thats a video i found that has one of the most impressive video game tracks i have ever heard. I love the track called Panic Of The Undead which its featured in the video game Zombies Ate My Neighbors!

The first time i heard it i couldnt help but laugh, and i heard it over an iPod, no images, no video game, this song has this something that makes it very special, makes you just laugh, its a melody that evokes your humor to laugh, which its something ive never heard before.

If you want to hear the track and get high, be my guest, its highly recommended!

And... I must give recognition to that kick ass zombie that our little YouTube user shares with us over this vid.

The Wallflowers

So it was a bday present, i liked the song from the radio and everybody did, i guess it was a big hit back then huh? So when i got it i was exited, i dig music, even back then i did. Dont you think its romantic? Its a sad song indeed but i remember back then when i was way younger i always used to sing this, and i dont know why but it moved me, it sounds like some romance displaying over this 90s movie. Its hard to put in words those blurry memories but i remember going up to my room playing the cd and listening from track to track all that day, i get this funny feeling when i remember that, because i recall my friends there hanging out and talking about boys, and i dont see most of those girls anymore, i dont even know anything about most of them.

Yeah the song sounds like the past in that way because after listening this song over and over all that year, i forgot about it, but now it came back not long ago and brought back all that, i get a little nostalgic on that teenage memories. Now ill turn 24 in a couple of days and i get even more nostalgic about the past, tear tear haha.

Jakob Dylan, yeah, Dylans son, great voice and great song!

Vlad The Impaler

And Kasabians back!

Well we all may know them for hits like Empire, Reason Is Treason, Shoot The Runner etc. But we indeed have different favorites, they have many good songs and usually they know how to choose their singles. Well this time i believe its not an exception.

Vlad The Impaler, the song releases a strong riff and the usual Tom Meighan rap that hits the spot. At the start and at some point of the song you get this very electronic feeling with the delayed "get loose get loose" Serge Pizzornos calls to the people.

But being honest, even if a like it, its the worst single they have released to my opinion.

But the emphasis here, we have to aim it to the really nice video, this vintage styled horror movie like video. Cinematographic cliched but it does the job for this band, and well i like it, its funny. What you movie lovers think?

Metallica

Im wearing my Metallicas shirt to the concert (it fits long and loose but hey its vintage, and its badass) and the mandatory leather jacket, now that rocks indeed fashionable haha. Ive seen them before, and i can tell you they do play good live. I have a story to tell actually, it was about 3 years ago i think, i happened to be in Ireland at the time and they had booked a show in Dublin, to my surprise it was the anniversary of that so acclaimed Master of Puppets record, and well they start the concert and not that it was the first thing James Headfield said but it was very soon when he said: well as i hope you know, tonight we celebrate the anniversary of Master of Puppets and.. if you dont mind, were gonna play it all from track one! They stormed from one to last and squeezing a version of Whisky in the Jar which happens to be an Irish song and a must be played tonight there with all souls singing at once in Dublin.

Yeah a very well known worldwide heavy metal band, they keep on going! I dont remember what i felt the first time i heard them, but i remember back then they were big between the kids, i was very young but at school it became something like a badass band and i had to follow. It didnt go long like that, when you are this young you dont really know whats going on, but after forgetting about them for a few years they came back when i was a little older and i knew my taste better, not that i was really into them but i knew them, and i used to always comment something like: they should go back to their roots, or, i only like them in the 80s/early 90s. Anyway they are back, with a new album that was highly overrated (personal opinion, what you guys think?).

One - Metallica live in 1989

Im gonna sound cliched here: the good old Metallica.

Crystal Castles

They came to Mexico not long ago, and being honest this is about the only track i conserve from their record, i dont really like them that much but i think theyre pretty cool.

I mean i could do that, i could sing to this computer and it would make my voice sound like some Alien/Robot and dance, i already have the outfits and i think i could make a good frontwoman for a band, maybe id be shy at first but ill learn to handle it. So... anybody? What you say, should i start a band?

Im totally stealing her make up.

Crimewave - Crystal Castles live in the UK

The Killers

Hands up and open, spread fingers, big smile, sing!

The first time i heard this track i didnt feel the Killers even played, it sounded very electronic, i couldnt find the sound of the guitar and everything was too bright that it made it feel artificial. Then i started to enjoy the track and i remember later on i had an argument about it, i didnt know where to stand until it was all clear when i heard: youre gonna love it when you listen to it while drunk in the nightclubs, and you will even stand up to dance it if youre sitting. It was very true, the first time i listened to it in a night club i went mad, i really enjoyed it.

The Killers has been this band that makes me recall drunken nights at clubs and they have always been a party band, but they also have nice mellow songs, i think they are good and they deserve to be where they are now. Not my favorite, but i enjoy it a lot, they could make me go crazy and jump.

Such a plastic track like this one, played like that live, i think thats a good job well done, i mean they mastered it, thats a lot of work and i must give recognition to it.

Human - The Killers live at Later... with Jools Holland

What a perfect performance.

Peter Doherty

Musician, Poet, Lover, Drug User, Rockstar, Bohemian, Father, Son, Babyshamble and Libertine. Pete Dohertys actually a very controversial character, and not many people like him, like most of the good old fashioned rockstars. This is the last call for our generation to have an icon like him, as i said controversial, the last rockstar that held the rocknroll flag with debauchery, the rockstar of our generation.

Everybody knows him better for his cooperative work with Carl Barat in the Libertines, but Pete didnt stop after being jailed, kicked out of his band and left out with nothing. He already knew how to make up his way to the press, the media, the fans. Hes indeed as i mentioned first, a musician, and even if hes a fuck up and an addict, hes good.

So now the future gets bright on him, hes trying to wash off the junkie title he earned and that set him where he is now, its funny how we hate him because hes a junkie, but we love him on the cover of magazines and we want to know if hes trying again to give up drugs. But now hes back, with a new solo debut album called Grace/Wastelands, a very personal and unveiling record, where he shows what hes got. I support him because i love his music.

The Last of the English Roses - Peter Doherty at the Late Late Show

I hope hes back with Carl soon.

Radiohead

So they sold out el Foro Sol twice in just two hours, they turned the radio stations into an all Radiohead all week playlist, they made people buy their tickets at 3 times the real price, they also lost the concert and let it fall at the middle of the second date.

So i did go to both days, and i dont know what you guys think but, i believe the first one had:

- Better sound
- Better response from the audience
- More songs (or at least it felt like it was longer)

But the second one had:

- Better set list selection (they played all my favorite songs on this one, almost! they couldnt go on with Exit Music, wtf?) which its very important for me, they pleased me and that its not likely to happen.

So they lost their concert at the middle and they couldnt recover the power, which was like.. i mean its Radiohead, they have enough songs to play and make the people cry, scream, all that!

Ok ill tell you my fave Radiohead songs:

Talk Show Host
Karma Police
Exit Music
All I Need
How To Disappear Completely

Remember Romeo & Juliet? well that was my first time listening to this Radioheads song, i loved it, i think that moment in the movie was sexy, was decadent, but it made you get into the mood, the moment, at Verona beach that afternoon.

I love this movie, one of my favorite ones, excellent Radioheads intervention here. The relation between Radiohead and Romeo & Juliet its very strong, it creates this atmosphere that i really relate to.

The Verve

The first time i listened to this track was back then around 98, i was in the car with my dad driving from Puerto Vallarta to Nuevo Vallarta. So im riding shotgun and scanning the radio seeking a good song, and i stopped at this nice violin sound, i sat back and looked forward with my eyes up to the sky, it made me feel good, it sounded real, it sounded glorious. When the song was over i was fascinated.

Then the guy from the radio station said he loved the track and he wanted somebody to call and sing it, so you hear this woman trying to come up with a version of the song but with no success or whatsoever. Then he said, ok im gonna play the song again so pay attention. He comes back and people tried to match the lyric of the song, again with no success, then he said, im gonna play this song until somebody calls and sings it, i dont care if i have to listen to it all afternoon, i love it! He ended up playing it around 7 times, and nobody could still match the lyric, after all it was a new track. I remember my dad having to listen to me singing it, plus the song, plus the people calling. So it was my first time listening to it but after around 7 times played one after each other over the way home in the car, i knew the lyric already. So i decided to call, and well i was the girl that stopped the Verves Bitter Sweet Symphony riot over that radio station that afternoon, i think it was something like 89.5 (yeah a little local sister station to Radio Activo back then).

Urban Hymns was pretty much my soundtrack around those years, i spent many afternoons going through it back and forth. Bitter Sweet Symphony was indeed one of my Urban Hymns.

For Lovers

I literally was seduced with this song. Its a pretty song with the beautiful kid alike voice of Peter Doherty (by the way hes coming out with his new solo album) and a romantic piano to match the slow dance tempo for lovers to start PDAing everybody at the party. The song was written by Wolfman but brought to us by Pete, and he did finely with a perfect performance at TOTP.

Coldplay

Remember Yellow? Yeah! ...and it was all yellowww (guitar riff)

Well not that i used to like them that much but now this new Viva La Vida records lovely. They indeed achieved to create one of this glorious songs again, an anthem for the fans to sing, a song that could sold out stadiums. It has that feeling of glory that makes you a sound track for a trip, those songs you would like to listen when you wake up early on a Saturday for some special occasion or catch a flight, those songs you want to put when you start a new adventure, they are company to "that whole new feel of a start".

Songs like Bitter Sweet Symphony, Champagne Supernova, I Am The Walrus make good examples. Its the violins, the choirs, the easy listening and easy singing choruses, the perfect tempo, the lights they make you feel and listen.

I have this small play list over my shuffle now, with a few songs i found that make me feel a little like that at the moment.

Time To Pretend - MGMT
Death - White Lies
Human - The Killers
Champagne Supernova - Oasis
Bitter Sweet Symphony - The Verve
Black Magic - Jarvis Cocker
The Magic Position - Patrick Wolf
Use Somebody - Kings of Leon
One Headlight - The Wallflowers
Never Tear Us Apart - INXS
Viva La Vida - Coldplay
Dont Look Back Into The Sun - The Libertines
A Song For The Lovers - Richard Ashcroft
All You Do Is Talk - BRMC
Daddys Gone - Glasvegas
I Am The Walrus - The Beatles
Crimson And Clover - Tommy Jammes and The Shondells
Albion - The Babyshambles

And yeah my friends, i didnt forget to post the video.

Viva La Vida - Coldplay live at the BBC

White Lies

We all tell a lie from time to time, we skip facts, or we just change reality to our convenience to prevent loss, pain, anger, etcetera. Ive learned through experience that its better to try to be good with all our environment n life, so we can accept life itself and our own self, then avoid hiding truth or changing reality to others. Because when you lie, someday that fact or truth you have erased in your life, will come and hunt you down. Its very hard for me, its hard to accept that we are not who we want to be, and that probably we will never be anything near that.

But this band its called White Lies for different reasons i think, i dont really know i just know they are new, they fucking kill it live, just check that perfect performance of their single Death, amazing track.

Death - White Lies live at Later... with Jools Holland

Tremendous execution.

INXS

I knew the name INXS, which I consider it one of the greatest rock bands name:

-"Whats your band called?"

-"INXS"

-"In Excess you said?"

-"You spell it I-N-X-S"

-"Thats genius mate! thats fucking good"

I knew a few songs and i knew the story behind Michael Hutchence death, but it was not until i watched Donnie Darko when i became very fond of them. Donnie Darko was the only movie ive seen more than twice in one day, yeah, it was 3 times! We bought some candy, rolled a fag of weed and made some tea, it was day and it was bright, so we put on the movie, perfect timing. The first round ended up leaving me confused and very curious with a lot of questions about life and god and time travel. We went out to smoke a little more and talk about the movie, but we decided we had to get into the vessel again and watch it for a second time, so we could understand a little more, or at least try. The second round was full of interruptions, pause and talk, pause and internet, pause and munchies. By the afternoon we had to talk about it again listening to that Gary Jules song "Mad World" (I recommend that track), we were trying to chain the spots and making up our own version of the philosophy of that movie.

Never Tear Us Apart - INXS live

Now i love this track and i love dancing to it, i think it has a perfect compass for a warm, soft, sensual dance, and well the hooks are very sexual. "Never Tear Us Apart! Taratarara! and then the piano goes in again".

Third round? Well, one of my friends arrived and started to hear our talk about time traveling, dreams and god. She had to watch it, right there, and we were up for it.

Interpol

Paris, nothing to do, alone, bored... so i found out Interpol was playing around Pigalle at this place called, la Boule Noire, so i decided to take the few euros i had, dress completely in black and go. Im outside and i see the line to get in, im there standing waiting, and i hear its a private concert given for a radio station, the venue was not even open for the public yet, and you had to be a vip or invited by the radio station. So i move out from the line and go check on the doors, i see the list and i see two huge black french bouncers looking pretty fucking mean. Then i see a guy going in, then out to that huge white broadcast bus next to the venue, and everything around my head was like that, turning around trying to find a way to get in. I remember then, Tabs (girlfriend of the guitar player of my friends band) saying, yeah my sister went to school with Paul Banks, he was this dirty nerdy loser that used to be bullied at el ASF...
Si! a perfect bluff. So i go back in the line, i wait to get to the door and as soon as i could control my nerves, i tell the bouncer im in the list, and i go in straight to the list guy, i give him my name and he searches me, and searches my name again and again, just to tell me: well i cant find your name are you sure you were invited? i go like: yes, Paul Banks, the singer, invited me, we went to school together in Mexico, you could go ask him. So he sends somebody and i had to wait there at the entrance, most of the people was already in, and i was really nervous, but i couldnt go back, i had to play the whole hand, once you call the all in, theres no turn back. So im playing my part waiting, trying to look relaxed and the guy comes back, tells the other guy something i couldnt hear, and he comes to me to tell me... Im sorry if you are not on the list we cant do anything. Everything crashes, i go out to the cold, but before i use my puppy eyes to give my last: please? but i found no success and the cold air from the empty street was inevitable.

Obstacle 1 - Interpol live at NBC

The guy from the bus: eh! toi, fille, ouais toi, viens la, tu veu voir?

Pandy: umm, okay.

The guy from the bus: regarde la télé, on est entrain d'enrengistrer.

Pandy: oh! merci beaucoup.

So i watched the concert outside the venue over this small tv from the door of a broadcasting bus. It looked a little bit like this video, but with not such a big production work. This was back in 04, it was the black sessions show and was taped, recorded and broadcasted live on Radio France.

The Subways

Fuck thats aggressive! But the band playing behind the montage was killing it, who the fuck are these guys?

Well after traveling around internet and trying to find out what was that music, i did not just find their cds, i found a lot of videos and info about them, and i like them, for real. I found this guys are new enough but already played Reading Festival twice, the front man and the cool as fuck little crazy girl who plays the bass, were going to get married but broke up during the recording of their second album, which i can tell its not such a great effort as their first one. Buy their first record, its fucking class (british accent).

That aggressive energy filled up riffs spread something, that kind of feeling that makes you want to just bounce around filling the air with a voice that might not sound very angelical but full of careless animal instinct going crazy that might put you in mood to go on and forget about all that fucking world that mess up our heads everyday, and just hang out having fun, not caring about tomorrow or any other fucking day.

We need that kind of escape from time to time... so ill leave you with that relief.

Special Mention to: Radioheads In Rainbows!

Nobody really cared to ask why the Kings of Leon won the Best Album of the Year 2008s Poll if the winner entry with 6 votes was Radiohead with their album In Rainbows, well anyway heres the explanation:

After talking to some friend about the Radioheads album i was informed that this person obtained the album at a late year 2007, and he actually remembers the album as one of the best works of that year but then thinks about it as a 2008 work because, as we all do, we think it came out last year, and well it did, it came out physically in the USA on January 1st, but officially the album was released worldwide on October 10th 2007 through the internet (WikiFacts!).

So Radioheads In Rainbows was disqualified and Kings of Leon took the first place with 3 votes and a happy Pandy yay! hahaha (not that it meant much, i mean who cares about this anyway?).

I think All I Needs the best effort from the English band in this record thats indeed one of the best works weve seen through the last years.

Best Album 2008 Poll Winner... Kings of Leon!

So, we had a close end these last days with votes and votes and expectation, we didnt expect it to be a hard one for the KOL guys, they for real killed it last year with an amazing album and single. The Sex On Fire and Only By The Night names spent a long time over the tops and if it wasnt because most of the people had bought the album already, they would be up there right now.

Because you guys (thanks for reading me) asked for it, ill leave you with the winner, i couldnt find one that i could post with better quality, but if you want the real "HQ" they give over youtube, go there and type:
